Every time I see this picture, I just think...this is what happiness is. Alex is so wonderful and such a good baby. He has his own look more and more, but will always remind me of Royce. They just have so much in common.
Here is a great shot of the perfect "V" in Alex's hair line. It actually is two lines coming together. I don't think I have ever seen one so defined before. This makes him look like a little old man. Both of my boys look like little old men. Well, now you see it.
Here is older brother trying to help feed him. Notice that mom isn't relaxed or smiling. Royce loves to help, but sometimes that brings twice the mess and twice the work.
That is me!!!
And here is Alex in the tub. Just looking soo angelic.
Royce likes to cook. He likes to help with all meals whether I have time to deal with the mess or not. His favorite pastime is not playing with trucks and cars, but it is playing in the sink with the water running, pretending to wash the dishes. Here he is on a beautiful spring Sunday evening, trying to help Dad make some cookies. Royce was adamant on pouring in the flour. So we let him, then he turned on the mixer, and voila. I would think he would be happy about this accomplishment, but he just cried and cried. Look closely at these pictures. This is my 2 year old son with his little brother's pacifier sleeping in the baby's bed. Yes, we had already weaned him a while before, but when baby arrived, it was like paci Heaven again. Pacifiers everywhere, and Royce got right in on the action. Evidently he wasn't quite ready to be the big brother.
Here is Aunt Jackie with her newest nephew. She always takes good care of Alex. It is good that she took the time then, because now darling little Tomi won't allow Jackie to hold him. She gets very jealous, very quickly.
This is my favorite little outfit. I made Royce wear it all of the time and Alex too. It is an Old Navy sweatsuit and is just so cute. Since both of them are winter babies, it has been a great thing to have.
Who wouldn't want to wear Mom's boots? We found Royce trying to put them on and wear them. He struggled because the heels are so high, but he wouldn't give up. They go right up to his crotch and he can only really take about 2 or 3 steps in them before he falls. Notice that he is holding on to the lamp. After all that, he still finds them and puts them on when ever he sees them.
I think watching your kid sit on the potty is one of the cutest things ever. They seem so grown up all of the sudden, and then not because it is a tiny little chair.
Here is Alexander, one more time, sitting in the swing. He really likes his swing. It has been really nice because if I lay him on the floor he is sure to be mauled by the big monster, Royce. If he is in the swing, he still gets mauled, but I can hear it better and Royce usually wants to play with the swing settings first, before he actually bothers the baby. So sometimes we go in and Alex is swinging really really fast with music playing and his mobile going super speed, other times Alex starts to cry because he is just sitting there with nothing to do. But at least there has been no bodily harm.
What Happiness Is????
I think happiness for me right now really is that my two boys are happy. That they are healthy and that they love daddy and mommy. We have a ton of fun just being home with them, teaching them things and seeing their accomplishments. Sometimes I think that is all we do for fun these days, but I am always reminded how fast these precious moments leave and we never get them back. I enjoy taking care of these sweet boys and I am happy that I get the opportunity to have the love of my two boys in my arms.
