Birthday #2 for Royster!

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROYSTER!
You don't get better than a face like that. It made it all worth it!
We started out the day with a great breakfast. Royce's favorite, waffles. He was in a great mood all day long. I don't know if he knew that it was his birthday or if maybe we just were nicer to him, but it was a good day for all of us.

I am still having a hard time seeing him grow up and change. He is a big boy now and it is starting to scare me how fast it goes. I do have lots and lots and lots of pictures, but the memories seem to fade so quickly. I forget the long nights together and the days of crawling around on the floor or him first smiling up at me in my arms. So that is part of the reason I like to celebrate big. Then I can at least say we had fun together even if we don't remember it.
ALL ABOUT THE CAKE
I think here is where you can say that pictures are worth a thousand words. The cake made the whole event an event!
So the story behind the cake is that I have been thinking for a while that I needed to do something special for Royce even though I just had a baby and was a wreck for a while.
My idea came after my wonderful visiting teacher brought over this georgeous cake for Dallas & I for Christmas. She had made a beautiful present cake with a bow, ribbons and a delicate flower to complete it. I couldn't believe how awesome it was, and she made cakes like this for all the people she visit teaches. So I asked her later if she would want to help me make a cake for Royce's birthday. I looked at her facebook and picked a design out with her. It was incredible. I started working on the cake, baking it, making fondant, and frosing on Wednesday and Thursday. Shanelle came over on Friday and showed me how she does it. She brought all her cake accesories and we had fun. She ended up doing most of it, but I helped as much as I could. So now I know some of the secrets to fondant. I also learned that fondant is much like yummy playdough. At the end of all of this, I felt like I learned how to play with playdough and make it look good. The cool thing about this cake was that it tasted sooooo good too. We loved it!

We have found that Royce really really loves attention. As we placed him here to sing Happy Birthday to him, he was just smilling and looking at everyone to make sure that their eyes were watching him. Then as we actually started to sing, he smiled really big and then started to sway to the music. I wish I would have recorded it, but I just wasn't fast enough. He swayed and grinned through the entire song. What a crowd pleaser. I know that he didn't get that from me.

This is a really sad confession, but I was so proud of my cake and wanted to make sure that everyone got to adore it, even Jackie and Eric, who were late, that I wouldn't let anyone cut it. Everyone just had to eat the cupcakes first. Then later I broke down and I cut it, but I will admit, it was hard and I still miss my cake.
Here were all the friends nad family that attended, or at least some of them.

 Presents, presents and more presents!

Here is baby brother, just a month old!

Baby Tomi came too! It is always nice to have the Harris family around since they miss out on many of the family parties and fun!
What a great day for a Big Boy.
What he doesn't know is now this means potty training.

  1. You have such fun little posts. And I love that you write like you talk. Very cute indeed. I'm glad you got so many precious pictures of the event.
One question--- How in the world do you put pretty borders around your photos?? It makes a huge difference in the presentation and you're just making my blog look like junk!
